The CFAI process is voluntary, and provides an agency with an improvement model to assess their service delivery and performance internally and then works with a team of peers from other agencies to evaluate their completed self-assessment.
Chief William Daywalt stated that the agencys achievement of Accredited Agency status demonstrates the commitment of the agency to provide the highest quality of service to our community. Chief Daywalt also said, this achievement was accomplished by the hard work and dedication of all the volunteer members of the fire company. This was real team effort and without the members support, we would not have received this recognition. This process will help us stay in touch with the community and to meet the needs of the citizens.
The process of self-assessment was established as a non-profit organization in 1996, the Commission on Fire Accreditation International spent nearly a decade in research and development phase within the International Association of Fire Chiefs. The International Association of Fire Chiefs worked in concert with the International City/County Management Association in the development of the CFAI program. The accreditation status with CFAI is good for five years. After the five years, the agency must go through a re-accreditation process.
