King of Prussia Vol. Fire Company Honors Several Members.
King Of Prussia, Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania
At the Upper Merion Township Board of Supervisor's Meeting held on Thursday, March 2, 2006, the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company honored seven firefighters for the acts of heroism. Each firefighter received a "Unit Citation" for their heroic actions on the night of February 2, 2006.
Fire Chief William Daywalt Jr. and Assistant Chief Mark Ross presented a Unit Citations to Firefighter Chris MacVaugh, Firefighter Michael MacVaugh, Firefighter William Elder, Firefighter William Vanderslice III, Firefighter Rick Martin, Engineer Michael Kiczula and Chief Engineer Chris Santillo.
On the night of February 2, 2006, the King of Prussia Vol. Fire Company was dispatched to assist Upper Merion Police Department and Valley Forge Park Rangers in a search of Valley Forge National Park for a missing person.
These firefighters quickly and swiftly searched the Valley Forge Memorial Chapel property and the abutting cemetery. Their quick action located the missing person and ultimately saved this individual's life.
Chief Daywalt stated, "I hope that our community realizes the dedication of all the volunteers within the Township. They are one of our communities greatest assets. Each and everyone of them are true Hometown heroes."
