RE: Fire at the King of Prussia Beidler Road Station
Dear Residents and Members of the Board of Supervisors:
As many of you already know, the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company satellite station on Beidler Road was devastated by fire during the early morning hours of Sunday February 2, 2003. The building sustained substantial damage and the ladder-tower and rescue pumper that it housed was destroyed.
Since early Sunday evening the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company has been back in business providing emergency services to the people of Upper Merion Township and its surrounding communities. The company is able to continue to operate and support its personnel with the equipment housed at the station on Allendale Road.
Once the immediate tasks of inventorying lost equipment, modifying our response procedures and initiating the insurance claim processes are completed, we will begin exploring our options for repairing the station and replacing the lost equipment.
In the meantime, the overwhelming outpouring of support that we have received from neighboring fire companies, the Township and the community has greatly helped to reduce the distress associated with this type of loss.
The volunteers are what make a fire company, not the bricks and mortor. In King of Prussia we are fortunate to have a force of dedicated individuals who are committed to rebuilding so they can continue to provide a high level of quality service to the members of this community.
On behalf of the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company, I would like to thank the Board and the township staff, especially Mr. Wagenmann, for your outstanding support and continued assistance as we begin to rebuild and recover from this very unfortunate incident.
Sincerely,
William C. Daywalt, Jr.
Chief of Fire & Rescue Services
